2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Lavaux-Saint-Jacques', Domaine Denis Mortet

It was quite a sizeable plot that Denis and Laurence bought back in 1993, being around 1.2 hectares, and I am sure they have never regretted this great purchase for one single second. As the climate has changed so this site has become one of the most sought after in the Côte de Nuits, with its sunny exposure being perfectly counterbalanced by the cooler nights that result from the cooling breezes blowing through the gentle valley. In 2022 Lavaux was badly hit by a heavy storm in June and a significant proportion of its fruit was lost, but what remained was stunning with great natural concentration and the signature salinity of the vintage.
