“The 2019 Riserva is more than a match for the celebrated, and potentially ‘best ever’ 2016, and shows remarkable depth and grace in its embryonic state. Aromas of black cherry, plum, blood orange and balsamic spice on the nose, with ripe, wild berry fruit joining on the palate. Detailed and powerful, with intense, structured tannins and a refreshing blood orange tang on the finish. There are some brooding, smoky, tobacco notes developing in the background, although now this feels tightly wound and will reward patience for another 3-5 years at least.”
